Background: Wedge, a Corellian, was born in Corellia and raised in outer Gus Treta, a fueling depot and spaceport owned and operated by his parents, Jagged and Zena. His parents died in an accident that destroyed much of Gus Treta. A craft with suspectedcriminals attempted to flee authorities without detaching its mooring clamps.Although the resulting damage destroyed his home, Wedge inherited enough credits through insurance that he was able to purchase his first stock light freighter. He was not very successful as a smuggler or a gunrunner, so he instead joined the Rebellion.

After the Battle of Yavin, Wedge stayed with the core Alliance High Command group, taking on varying roles. When Commander Narra began forming Rogue Group -- which would later evolve into the modern Rogue Squadron -- Wedge was one of the original members.

After Rogue Squadron's performance during the Battle of Hoth, Antilles reorganized the elite fighter pilot group and was promoted to Commander, or Rogue Leader. The squadron was assigned to the Headquarters Frigate, Home One.

It was in this period that Wedge Antilles became fully in command of the squadron while Luke Skywalker tried to find his friend Han Solo, that he and General Madine exchange some ideas about the squadrons, since many squadrons had suffered great number of casualties, that it was hard to find replacements both pilots and fighters. The two suggested to transform the Squadron into starfighter\commando unit of small number – 4 or 5 pilots. The ideia was basicly a squadron that was designed to fulfill the mission responsibilities of both traditional starfighter squadron and a commando unit – a revolutionary concept in tactics for the Rebel Alliance and one Wedge Antilles and General Madine felt was an essential development for the Rebel Alliance to defeat the Empire.

However time passed and both couldn’t find support for such kind of squadron, before the Battle of Endor happened. Rogue Squadron flew as Red Squadron, in homage to the original X-wing squadron that flew over the first Death Star. Although Antilles was allowed the opportunity to equip his squadron with newer A-wings and B-wings, he stayed with the traditional X-wing starfighters.

Following the Battles of Endor, Wedge’s Rogue Squadron escorted most of the fleet to Bakura. His squadron suffered several casualties, when the Rebel Alliance discovered it was trap set by the Empire. Rogue Squadron heroism to protect the rebel Alliance fleet to safety, or at least part of it, gave them the name to be the elite squadron of the Rebel Alliance. However the casualties where to great and Wedge saw that his squadron lack of replacements of fighter and pilots, and Wedge saw it was good opportunity to try the idea of starfighter\commando unit right in Rogue Squadron.

With the death of General Madine on Bakura, Wedge thought he was alone to convince the key position of Rebel Alliance to transform Rogue Squadron in such a unit, however despite the protests of several heads of Rebel Alliance like Borsk Fey’lya, Wedge saw he had powerfull ally to transform this kind of Squadron reality, Admiral Ackbar. Ackbar gave the go ahead to Wedge to do what it took to transform Rogue Squadron, giving him freedom of choice to choose the other pilots, despite influential maneuvers by some people like Borsk Fey’lya.

Wedge with Rogue Squadron being a type of starfighter\commando Squadron believes that Rogue Squadron has a lot to prove, but he is confident that this type of squadron will be the key to defeat once and for all the Empire.
